The Caring Place serves residents of Golf Manor, Kennedy Heights, Pleasant Ridge, and Silverton. Anyone in these communities who needs food, clothing, or other support is welcome to come.
Items Needed for Registration
Please bring the following when you visit for the first time:
- Picture ID
- Household Verification — a piece of first-class mail addressed to you, no more than 30 days old
How Often You Can Visit?
Clients can visit once per month, per household.
Good to Know
The pantry is open Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, except on certain holidays. The pantry is located inside Pleasant Ridge Presbyterian Church at 5950 Montgomery Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45213. When you arrive, enter through the double doors off the main church entrance on Montgomery Road — volunteers will be ready at the doors to greet you.
If you are driving, limited parking is available on Montgomery Road in front of the church. Park in the designated spots, and a volunteer will come out to help you. The pantry is also accessible via Metro Line 4 and Metro+.
On some days, the pantry may have less food available than other days, so keep that in mind when planning your visit.
Food & Essentials
The Caring Place is a choice pantry, which means clients select from a monthly allowance of food and household products. Clothing and furniture are also offered on a limited basis when available.
How to Pick Up
When you arrive, volunteers will greet you at the doors. This is a client-choice pantry — you come inside and select from a monthly allowance of food and household products. You shop for your own items rather than receiving a pre-packed bag.
Facilities
Teddy's Closet is an on-site clothing closet that provides a selection of clothing and household items for those in need.
Ways to Give
The Caring Place gladly accepts donations to help neighbors in the community. Donations are accepted on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30–11:30 AM and 12:30–2:00 PM. Bring donations to the double doors off the parking lot and let the receptionist know you are dropping off a donation.
Items accepted include:
- Food
- Clothes, shoes, and accessories for men, women, children, and infants (clean, gently used; underwear must be new)
- Personal care items (soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, sanitary pads, etc.)
- Household cleaning supplies (laundry detergent, dish liquid, bleach, etc.)
- Toilet paper
- Housewares (pots, pans, dishes, cutlery, cooking utensils, kitchen equipment, bed/bath/kitchen linens, etc.)
You can also donate money online at paypal.com/donate.
